Another appearance on Saturday Night Takeaway

https://hexio.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/game-of-phones-1.jpg
Some of our artworking skill and printing were shown off again this weekend on ITV"s Ant & Decs Saturday Night Takeaway .

We were asked to create convincing looking switchboard panels to dress a set that they were building for a feature called "Game of Phones".

Working from images found on the internet, we were able to create the artwork and print the panels in plenty of time for filming the show.

It"s just a pity that after spending so much time drawing hundreds of realistic looking screw heads for the control panels, they are not even visible when the camera pans past. Oh well.

ScaffoldSigns.com refresh

https://hexio.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/ScaffoldSigns-Screenshots-fanned-out.png
Finally, I"ve found a spare minute or two to give our ScaffoldSigns.com website a much needed refresh, after the previous site had served us well for more than a decade .

It was looking quite long in the tooth and some of the links on the shop section were not working any more. So I started fresh, creating new graphics and using a whole new shopping cart system, bringing it bang up-to-date.

It is now fully responsive, meaning it works as well on a phone or tablet as it does on a computer screen, which is clearly a huge plus when you consider that most of the time our target audience is going to be on a building site when using it.

Lets hope the orders start rolling in.

MDF Photo Prints

https://hexio.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/MDF_Photoprints_5.jpg
These impress us every time from Listen Studio. It always helps that we are supplied excellent photos to begin with, but the resolution of our printer and the high gloss laminate that we apply makes the colours really pop on these prints, that we mount to 15mm MDF boards with wrapped edges.

They mounted with wood battens to raise them off the wall, which gives the illusion of them floating.

Flight Case Branding

https://hexio.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/AbsoluteCasing-ManchesterCityFC.jpg
A regular job we get is to produce the branding for the bespoke flight cases that are made by Absolute Casing. This often involves printing and cutting to shape crests and logos for football clubs and sports organisations.

We have also laminated all over prints onto their pre-cut plywood sections, to give a full wrapped image effect when the finished case is assembled.

Symantec Decals

https://hexio.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Symantec-Decals-4.jpg
Fairly straight forward this one, multi coloured decals applied to glass for an event staged by the software company Symantec.

They only had the room for a short period, so the installation schedule was very tight. In fact they were only in place for two hours, before being peeled off again.

Such a shame, I thought they looked really good.

Helping recreate Warhol masterpieces

This was a fascinating project we worked on last year, that is finally getting publicity.

We were approached by the artist and screen printer Paul Stephenson who had acquired an extensive set of original Andy Warhol negative separations. Our task was to project them on our enlarger to create the positives required to recreate screen printed art as authentically as possible.

The attention to detail was extreme, even down to the fact that Paul had access to the notebooks that Andy Warhol used, so that he could ensure that the inks and paints were mixed to the exact same recipe as they were in the sixties.

The BBC have just featured an article on their website detailing Pauls endeavours, and publicising the fact that the works will be exhibited (and for sale) at the Buy Art Fair at Manchester Central in a couple of weeks.

Also being debuted at the event in Manchester on the 28th October is a screening of the documentary titled "Business of Making Art", featuring Paul Stephenson, and filmed partly in our workshop here in the Old Kent Road last year. Lets hope the camera is flattering.

Surfers in the Boardroom

This is a cool way to liven up your boardroom.

We were asked to produce a large bespoke wall covering for a meeting room in Pearlfinders in their South London office. Unfortunately, the original image was fairly low in resolution, so once again we applied our retro coarse halftone effect to the image, to hide any unwanted pixels.

We also printed the image on a new product from our substrate suppliers called DigiWall LT, an opaque self adhesive luxury fabric wall covering.

The end result was an eye-catching mural that livens up the space, and provides a tough washable covering for the office wall.

Doisy & Dam Trade Show Stand

Our friends at Doisy and Dam asked us if we could produce self adhesive decals suitable for applying to plywood and rough OSB shutter board.

They wanted to create an eye-catching stand at the 2017 Lunch Show at Excel, to promote their range of delicious organic chocolates.

We suggested using our Supertack vinyl which was printed and CAD cut to shape, we also offered to feed the sheets of board through our heated laminator. This gave a lovely effect because the vinyl conformed to the texture of the board.

Unfortunately, no chocolate samples were forthcoming on this occasion. Maybe next time.
